This recipe is the whole food version of lemsip. Anti-inflammatory nutrients aim to fuel your immunity from the bottom up to naturally fight off infection leaving you stronger and more resilient.

When you’re feeling run down, make a jar of the turmeric paste to sip away at 2-4 of these golden mugs a day. The paste can also be added to food – Chuck it into a smoothie or add it to soups or vegetables.

What you need

For the paste

  • 4 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • Any other sweet spices: allspice, clove, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • ½ cup water

For each cup of tea

  • 1-2 tsp turmeric paste
  • 1 cup freshly boiled water
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2-3 tsp raw honey

What to do

Combine all the ingredients for the turmeric paste in a pan or small pot. Bring to boil and simmer for 5-20 minutes.

Decant the paste into a small glass jar. Be careful when handling, the turmeric oil will stain just about any plastic or cloth tea towels..or your bench… the floor.. dog’s nose. Caution!

For each cup of tea, use 1-2 teaspoons of the paste in a mug. Pour over boiling water then stir in lemon juice and honey.

This makes a strong-tasting brew. Add a pinch of stevia is the turmeric is too bitter
